Tragic Death of Young Cricket Enthusiast in Mumbai Tree Collapse

In a devastating incident in Chembur, Mumbai, an 11-year-old boy named Vihaan Srivastav died after a large tree crashed onto the school van he was traveling in on Tuesday afternoon. The heartbreaking event has left his family and the entire neighbourhood devastated.

Mother’s Unbearable Grief

Vihaan’s mother, Juhi Srivastav, was seen holding her son’s cricket bat tightly as she sat in silence, surrounded by relatives. The bat has become a painful reminder of the cheerful boy who loved playing cricket every evening with his friends in their housing society at Kukreja Residency.

Vihaan was the only child of Juhi and Gaurav Srivastav. Neighbours described him as an affectionate and energetic boy whose sudden passing has created a void that can never be filled. A local Shiv Sena corporator, Samruddhi Kate, recounted how Juhi told her, “Vihaan will never play cricket with Harshu again,” words that deeply moved everyone present.

Community in Mourning

The close-knit society is struggling to come to terms with the loss. Residents remembered how Vihaan and his friends would gather daily for cricket sessions. His father Gaurav is said to be completely shattered by the tragedy.

The incident occurred on Chembur’s Road No. 11 during heavy monsoon conditions. Authorities are investigating the cause of the tree fall, with questions being raised about possible negligence and prior warnings regarding unstable trees in the area.

This tragic event serves as a painful reminder of the dangers posed by old or unstable trees during the rainy season in Mumbai. The family’s only request is for prayers and strength to help them cope with this immense loss.
