Expanding its photography-centric smartphone portfolio ahead of the upcoming festive sales window, vivo India has officially confirmed the launch of the Vivo V80 for October 6, 2026, at 12:00 PM IST. Succeeding the popular V70 generation, the upcoming device introduces substantial hardware advancements centered on battery endurance and mobile imaging. Headlining the configuration is an ultra-dense 7,200mAh silicon-carbon battery—the largest power capacity ever integrated into a V-series chassis—supported by 90W FlashCharge fast-charging technology. The device also introduces a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display operating at a fluid 144Hz refresh rate, alongside an upgraded camera system co-engineered with German optics leader ZEISS.
Imaging Architecture: Triple ZEISS Cameras with 3x Optical Telephoto
Designed around low-light portraiture and festival photography, the Vivo V80 features an advanced imaging array calibrated in partnership with ZEISS:
- Primary Sensor: A 50MP Sony LYTIA 700V (1/1.56-inch optical format) sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and high dynamic range tuning for low-light capture.
- ZEISS Night Telephoto: A 50MP Sony IMX882 telephoto lens with dedicated OIS, delivering 3x native optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom for long-range portrait compression.
- Ultra-Wide Sensor: A high-resolution ultrawide camera engineered for distortion-free landscape and group framing.
- Front Optics: A 50MP ZEISS Group Selfie shooter supporting fast autofocus and a wide 92-degree field of view to accommodate group compositions.
- Computational Video: The camera architecture supports 4K Cinematic Video alongside 4K recording at 60fps, supplemented by over 30 bespoke AI modes, including AI Diwali Portrait 2.0 tailored for warm festive lighting, diyas, and decorative patterns.
"The V-series has consistently set standards in design and portrait photography. With the Vivo V80, we are coupling our proven ZEISS imaging optics with an unprecedented 7,200mAh battery and a 144Hz OLED panel to deliver sustained flagship-grade experiences without compromise," stated Vivo India representatives during the campaign teaser.
Display, Industrial Design, and Power Engineering
On the front, the phone is built around a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display with 1.07 billion colors and ultra-slim 1.25mm borders. The screen dynamically adapts from an ultra-dim 1-nit eye-comfort setting up to a 5,000-nit local peak brightness for HDR content and direct outdoor sunlight legibility.
The chassis incorporates a floating camera module set into a single-piece cold-carved glass rear panel, braced by an aircraft-grade metal middle frame. Vivo confirmed that the smartphone will launch in three finish options: Sunrise Anthem, Horizon Blue, and Stellar Black.
To support sustained heavy usage, the 7,200mAh battery is rated in testing benchmarks for up to 14 hours of continuous turn-by-turn navigation and up to 39.5 hours of offline media consumption. Using the bundled 90W FlashCharge brick in Fast Charging Mode, the device replenishes from 1% to 50% capacity in approximately 30 minutes.
Software Roadmap and Availability
The smartphone will boot OriginOS 7 based on Android out of the box, with Vivo committing to six years of security maintenance updates. Retail availability will commence shortly after the October 6 presentation across the Vivo India e-store, Amazon India, Flipkart, and authorized mainline brick-and-mortar retail outlets nationwide. Official pricing tiers and confirmed processor details will be formally revealed during the livestream event.
