Iran Holds Public Funeral for Former Supreme Leader

Tehran: Iranian authorities have begun public funeral ceremonies for the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. His body is lying in state at the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosalla in Tehran, where thousands of mourners have gathered.

Officials expect between 15 and 20 million participants in Tehran alone over the next three days. Six days of ceremonies are planned to commemorate Khamenei, who led Iran from 1989 until his death at the age of 86.
