A 36-year-old Pimpri-Chinchwad police constable, Vijay Motilal Koli, who had been missing since September 23, was found dead near the PMPML bus depot in Transport Nagar, Nigdi, on Saturday, September 26. Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

Constable Went Missing on September 23

According to police information cited in reports, Koli left his residence at around 11:30 am on September 23 and did not return home. A missing-person complaint was subsequently registered at Chikhali Police Station.

Police learnt that Koli had taken his government-issued service firearm with him. His last known mobile location was traced to the Durgadevi Hill area of Nigdi, prompting police teams to launch an extensive search operation. Drones were also reportedly deployed during the search.

Body Found Near Transport Nagar Bus Depot

On the morning of September 26, police found Koli's body near the Transport Nagar PMPML bus depot in Nigdi. His service firearm was also reportedly recovered from the location.

Police officials have said the preliminary investigation indicates that Koli may have died by suicide using his service firearm. However, the circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation. No suicide note has reportedly been recovered.

The body was sent for postmortem examination as investigators continued to establish the sequence of events leading to his death.

Family Dispute Reported Before Disappearance

Multiple reports have stated that Koli had left home following an alleged family dispute. Police, however, have not established the dispute as the confirmed reason for his death.

The case remains under investigation, with police examining the available evidence and circumstances surrounding his disappearance and subsequent death.

The preliminary suicide angle remains an investigative finding and should not be treated as a final conclusion about the circumstances of the death.
